Студентка группы 1861, специальности "Системный анализ и управление", Попугаева Дарья прошла курс обучения в Универститете Западного Онтарио (University of Western Ontario).

Канада-это страна контрастов, с многонациональной культурой, традициями, прекрасной природой и большими возможностями. За время поездки мы посетили несколько крупных мегаполисов, Торонто, Оттава, Монреаль. Каждый город по-своему уникален и разнообразен. К примеру, Монтреаль это французская часть Канады, которая по своей архитектуре и атмосфере больше напоминает европейские города. Торонто это самый большой по населенности город, которой впечатляет своей многогранностью и отвечает всем представлениям американского континента: небоскребы, широкие улицы, и улыбки людей.
Главная цель поездки была учеба в Универститете Западного Онтарио (University of Western Ontario). Это не сравнимый не с чем опыт. Каждый учебный день был наполнен новыми впечатлениями и знаниями.
Университет находится в городе Лондон, провинция Онтарио, занимает огромную территорию, на которой располагаются множества корпусов и факультов, такие как медицинский, школа бизнеса( Ivey business school, которая считается одной из лучших школ в мире по подготовке специалиствов в сфере бизнеса), гуманитарный факультет, факультет искусств, пения, инженерный факультет, так же на территории университета располагается колледж.
Наша учеба была сосредоточена на инженерном факультете, на котором мы проходили курсы: engineering communication, computer design, project management. Курсы длятся в течении всего семестра, лекции проходят час, практические занятия два часа. Итогами курсов являются тесты, презентации и проекты, по результатам которых выставляется итоговый бал за курс, по 100 бальной системе.
Каждый курс был по своему интересен и увлекателен. Мы были в группах со студентами Канады, Китая и стран Африки, вместе с которыми мы выполняли работы, готовили презентации, конструировали и защищали проекты. Большой опыт и плюс учится в интернациональной группе, ты узнаешь много нового из других культур и конечно же это новое общение и практика английского языка.
Для международных студентов, учащихся в университете существует множество обществ и программ. Мы принимали участие в программах для улучшения и практики английского языка(было разделение на группы, по уровню знания английского, уровень которого определялся предварительным тестом, после чего нам были назначены гиды и расписание занятий), так же мы участвовали в танцевальных мероприятиях и ужинах, на которых были представлены все кухни мира.
Канадцы толерантны и приятны в общении, если была нужна помощь- всегда помогут и подскажут. В каждом корпусе находится центр помощи студентам, в который можно обратится по любому интересующему тебя вопросу.
Так же поражает инфраструктура университета, включающая в себя множество столовых и кафе, огромнейший спортивный центр( второй по величине и стоимости на американском континенте), парикмахерская, продуктовые магазины, огромный магазин одежды, с символикой университета, так же в кампусе сосредоточено три больших библиотеки, которые оснащены компьютерами, интернетом, и литературой, которая необходима для учебы. Библиотеки имеют свой сайт, на котором в электронном виде можно найти интересующую тебя книгу или статью; доступ к этому ты получаешь имея свою собственную учетную запись, которой ты владеешь в первый же день начала учебы. Также в университете имеется множество лабораторий, в которых проводятся исследования в различных сферах науки. Лаборатории огромные, вмещающие в себя все необходимые условия и оборудование. Многие студенты, параллельно с учебой, работают, разрабатывают и помогают ученым в исследованиях, внося свои замечания и идеи.

Canada is a peaceful and unique country with a beautiful landscape and has a very multicultural population and also has a lot of interesting facts, Its population is 32 million but has a huge region of land for a very little population. Another unique aspect of Canada, that surprised me, is it has two different national languages, Quebec is the only french speaking province in Canada. In my time in Canada I visited two largest cities in the country, Motreal(french side) and Toronto. This experience was very new and inspirational, because of all the differences between Russia and Canada. It's very impressed me.
The main aim of my visit to Canada is the studying at the University of Western Ontario , i attended university, faculty of engineering,this university is one of the top schools in north America. I had a lot of experience here, such as: seeing a huge campus for students with massive infrastructure, which include many accommodations, for example westerns recreational center is the second best center in all of north America( number one is in California). At university you can find all what you need, that's great, you can spend all day here, so time flies fast. At western I met many students from Canada and other countries, they all outgoing and very nice,also they were very helpful. Some students i met became very good friends. At western has many advantages such as: if need help you can find a tutor, library has a great learning atmosphere and has many helpful books and computers stations for use, there is more than one library on campus open to the public, additionally there is hospital on campus, another significant thing is that university has many programs for international students, it's very interesting and knowledgeable to take a part in it, this programs helps you to know more about another cultures and traditions and, for sure, improve your english skills. Also I like that westerns Internet access is very simple to use and very safe, each person has their own login and password, I think it makes you feel more independent. One thing was great and new for me that i learned about educational system in university, its that you can choose your programs and classes for your studying, therefore you can try yourself in different educational ways. A lot of good points I saw in classes, engineering communication was really new and I liked that professor always had a conversation with students,in computer design was very interesting process of creating models and also a bright moment when we tested this models,I like that all students are active, and I also thought that having presentations by professors was good idea, because it was amusing and educational.
From all of this good turns, I selected few minuses for myself, I was astonished with how the students were dressed in the classes, some of them wearing track pants, others wore pajamas, I think there is no official attire for class. Also many students ate in classes, they did not take notes and played games on their computers, it seem like they don't care for their education. This outcome is mostly seen in the lectures. Another fact that I don't like is how the extracurricular activities have a deadline for enrolling, so if you don't sign up before the deadline you can't participate. I had this problem because there was difficulties with my visa, which caused me to enter Canada later than I wanted.
I am very grateful that I had this chance, In my time in Canada and at Western I have had great experiences and opportunities which lead to helpful knowledge and amazing memories and will help me in the future. Im feeling that I started to be better in my education and communication, practice makes perfect.
